What Is Parent Coaching? The Hand in Hand Parenting Method

Table of Contents

Parenting can feel overwhelming at times, especially when big emotions or challenging behaviours take over. If you’ve ever wondered how to handle tantrums, anxiety, sibling conflict or the stress that comes with family life, you’re not alone. Parent coaching offers practical tools and compassionate support to help you feel calmer, more confident, and more connected with your child.

The Hand in Hand Parenting Method – A Trauma-Informed Program You Can Trust

Are you at your last straw with your child’s behaviour?

Feel you have little or no influence, apart from shouting and screaming, and then parenting guilt hits.

Are you dealing with tantrums, anger and unruly behaviour, or are you struggling with sleep, sibling issues or toddler biting?

Are you fearful about your child’s anxiety or a lack of resilience?

Are you overwhelmed by parental stress, feeling you don’t know where to turn and confused by the barrage of online opinions?

Is raising a family not what it looks like on Insta or what you had dreamed of?

A Simple Solution

There is a simple solution—though it takes time and effort to apply. Would you like to feel more in control and empowered, with a toolkit to lean on when parenting feels hard? This is where parent coaching can make a real difference.

My Journey

In 2009, I was pregnant with my first child and reading a mindful parenting book mid-flight. As a yoga teacher with experience in education and attachment theory, I expected calm parenting—but reality was different. My baby wouldn’t sleep or feed as “expected,” and I was exhausted, confused, and guilt-ridden. With my second child arrived even more overwhelm.

Then I discovered Hand in Hand Parenting, a global, connection-centred, trauma-responsive programme. Learning the five tools restored my joy as a mum. Inspired, and after 13 years of personal use, a year of official Hand in Hand training, and counselling training, I’m now offering 1:1 parent coaching sessions to help other parents feel supported and equipped.

What Happens in a 1:1 Session

  • We’ll explore the root causes of your child’s behaviours
  • I use a holistic, non-judgemental approach, starting with a full history
  • You’ll get specific, practical tools tailored to your concerns, including help with:
    • Difficult or challenging behaviours
    • Parental overwhelm, guilt, burnout
    • Traumatic or difficult birth experiences
    • Bonding challenges or disconnection

Together, we’ll identify which of the Hand in Hand tools suit your family and build a practical plan for progress. With parent coaching, you don’t have to face these challenges alone.
