I have lived a fairly unconventional life, by most standards. I am a child of a broken home and a survivor of childhood abuse. I’ve lived abroad and travelled the world. I’ve lived in 43 different houses and worked in lots of different jobs. I am divorced and a single parent. I am diagnosed autistic and ADHD, and I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community. I love to dance, hike and read trashy novels!
Sometimes I’m called a wounded healer, but honestly, I just think of myself as a survivor who’s spent enough time surviving that I’ve learnt a few tricks for coping. I’m now in a place where I can start to give something back.
In my 20s, I trained as a social worker and worked with children and families in Bristol for seven years. After having my own children, I wasn’t able to sustain my career due to stress, anxiety and eventually burnout. So I left and ran my own business for eight years. Then, a few years ago, I decided it was time to do the thing I’d always dreamed of doing: training to be a counsellor.
I have wanted to be a therapist since I was very young. I just didn’t have the confidence or the stability in my life to do it. I still don’t have all the answers, and the list of things I don’t know is a lot longer than the things I do! But I am in a good place, and I want to share the empathy and compassion I have with as many people as I can.
In 2025, I was diagnosed autistic and ADHD. Finding myself post-diagnosis has been a rollercoaster of emotions, and I’m still figuring it out. But things make more sense now, and I’ve learnt to be kinder to the versions of myself who didn’t know why they struggled with life so much.
My counselling training is in a humanistic, person-centred approach.
This means putting you at the centre of the therapy, allowing you to remain the expert in your own life and offering a warm, understanding and non-judgemental space.
I truly believe this type of therapy is for everyone.
My approach gives you the power to control how much you share and how you share it. As the therapist, I am along for the journey with you, but it’s your journey. You choose the route we take, the speed we go at and the destination, if you want there to be one. An end goal isn’t critical to the process.
I also work in a neuro-affirming and trauma-informed way.
Neuro-affirming means I understand that neurodivergent people often show up differently in the counselling space and that traditional therapy styles don’t always fit the needs of neurodivergent people. For example, if you find eye contact overstimulating, I won’t assume that not wanting to make eye contact means anything more than that.
If you want to move around, use a fidget toy or stim during sessions, that is 100% OK and actively encouraged if it helps you feel more regulated. Please feel free to talk to me about your neurodivergent needs. I always want to make neurodivergent people feel as comfortable as possible and reduce any barriers to accessing therapy.
Trauma-informed means I ensure that you have the time and space you need to unpack trauma without causing more harm or flooding your, possibly already shaky, nervous system. I live by the mantras “regulation before revelation” and “safety before story”.
Simply put, this means that I will never encourage you to share unless you feel ready and safe. The overall aim of my approach is to help you feel safe by building a therapeutic relationship step by step before we work together to unpack the big issues.
Excellent service - I had an amazing experience with Shabana right from the start. I was unsure about therapy when we started but Shabana is so good at what she does, she made me feel really comfortable and at ease, I felt really proud of myself for having done this and obviously her services had a big role to play. I'd highly recommend their services to anyone who is considering taking their first step. Good luck x
I can’t recommend Deb highly enough. I initially delayed seeking therapy, but I’m so glad I eventually took that step and found her. Deb helped me work through the grief of losing my dad, as well as some difficult childhood issues that I hadn’t fully understood or dealt with. She had a wonderful way of getting to the source of things in a safe, comfortable and completely non judgemental way. I always felt listened to and understood. The biggest difference for me is how much she has changed the way I think and approach things. She has helped me understand myself better and given me a much healthier perspective, which has made such a positive difference to daily life. It’s such a shame that I’m moving away and won’t be able to continue seeing Deb, as I would have happily carried on. I’m incredibly grateful for all the help and support she has given me, and I’ll take everything I’ve learned with me going forward. Thank you, Deb, for everything.
Every time I get a massage from Fi at the Wellness Centre, I've come away feeling like a different person. Fi not only has magic healing hands that make you feel wonderful with every touch, but she treats you with such calm and gentle compassion that this is a really holistic therapeutic experience that makes you feel cared for and special for one whole hour. Definitely recommend
Hello, The World at present doesn't have any standards anymore. So I don't expect anything from anyone. However in this case I spoke to a brilliant and diligent staff member called Sarah. She was incredibly pleasant and knew her job like the back of her hand. My inquiry was dealt with a standard which I would have set myself when I used to work. So very happy to have this very pleasant surprise. Keep up the Good Work. I honestly couldn't speak higher of the service. Thanks Steve
Deborah Chadbourne is an excellent counsellor. She is a good listener who offers subtle and insightful advice. The Wellness Centre is comfortable and well situated along Abbeydale Road.
I've been using the Sheffield Wellness Centre for nearly two years and enjoy the calm, comfortable and friendly feel of the rooms, and the great support from the managers.
I spoke with Richard who was helped me a lot in understanding my situation. He was also generous with his time when the question required longer than the 15mins. Thank you.
They provided excellent advise regarding our 3 children who all have SEN. Richard was very supportive and took his time to give us the best advice possible.
Deborah Chadbourn was an excellent grief counsellor for me. It is five years since my first wife died, and we explored how I am feeling now, and how to navigate new and old relationships while remaining true to everything from the past. Deborah is a great listener, and provides good challenge and advice. The venue worked well for me, as did the evening appointments. Thank you!
Shabana is one of those rare people who truly listens and understands without judgement. Her support came at a time when life felt overwhelming, and she helped me slowly rebuild my confidence and sense of self. I always left each session feeling lighter, calmer, and more grounded, and the tools she shared continue to help me every day. She helped me piece myself back together and reminded me that healing doesn’t mean becoming someone new — it means rediscovering who you’ve always been. I feel like my old self again, only stronger and more at peace. I can’t thank her enough.
My reki session was relaxing in a lovely environment . I really benefited from it and had a great nights sleep. Highly recommend.
Lovely mixture of reiki and creative life coaching from Jemma Rosenthal. Found the reiki very grounding and healing and the life coaching helped me navigate a difficult period of change and to clear some blocks in my life.
I am looking forward to offering homeopathy from Sheffield Wellness Centre. The rooms have a lovely relaxing feel and they are lovely and clean. Sheffield Wellness Centre is conveniently situated with on street parking and bus access.
Our work group recently had a Wellness Day and we were able to book Jemma Rosenthal and Ranaa Farooq from the Sheffield Wellness Centre for an instructional workshop. I have since received excellent feedback from group members. Jemma and Ranaa provided a very lively and well-coordinated session. We were able to cover topics such as Visualisation in a systematic manner. All along, attendees were impressed with the passion and interest displayed by both presenters. As an audience, we were certainly captivated. I can wholeheartedly recommend Jemma and Ranaa for any future events.
I had 2 sessions with Kim but to be honest after the first I was totally stress free her ability to remember all the people involved shoed her compasion I am so grateful and have slept like a log ever since thankyou ❤️
Charlotte is totally my medicine, she is amazing and iv been seeing her for various things and she has solved them. Cant recommend her or the Centre enough its very private, clean and relaxing. Thank you
Came to have my session with Jemma Rosenthal here. The restrooms are so clean. There are steps that one needs to be careful of once you get onto the first floor. Fabulous place other than that, just wish it had a lift. Regarding my session: Oh wow, where do I start?! Even before meeting Jemma, i've felt at ease as there is something with the way she talks, which is so calming and reassuring. My first session was exhaustive, but I loved it. I enjoyed the relaxing Reiki in the end. She tells me that I need to tell her when I am feeling tired of talking about my depressive past and that she can approach a different way of therapy. This feels so liberating because she is basically willing to tailor the session for YOUR needs. She is a wise lady. Though she is younger than me, she is very caring, intelligent and as I said a wise person. I am so happy that our paths crossed and she is helping me come out of my bad phase. I came home and was so relaxed (I was singing freely and my husband noticed a change in the way I sing it was excellent)... I've been happy and been chuckling which is so not like me but the sad phase is jutting out of my system. I've had other private sessions for depression but wanted someone to coach my life who understands anxiety and depression. I don't remember how I found her online but glad that I did!! -Sharvani ♡☆♡ She's truly a Gem... Jem✨
I met Richard today with a view to hiring the rooms for children's Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. I was pleasantly surprised at how clean and spacious the rooms were. The space was light and tidy and Richard was extremely welcoming and goes the extra mile for therapist. Providing web support, pages on Sheffield wellness site for all therapist. Support at gaining clients. The place is easily accessible to Sheffield and the Peak District. Highly recommended.
A beautiful little haven tucked behind a busy street. Convenient to get to, the rooms are cosy and quiet - with a wealth of practitioners offering their skills. Its outdoor space holds a community feel with a neighbouring cafe and quirky shops to browse after a treatment.
Rooms were very good for therapy. Quiet, warm and comfortable with quality furnishings. Kept very clean and always plenty of clean glasses and fresh water available.
A wonderful calming place on Abbeydale road, with perfectly serene therapy rooms.
I've visited the Centre for a massage and I'm about to begin hiring the rooms myself as a practitioner. The rooms are really beautifully done out, with a lot of care and attention to detail. Richard has been very supportive and helpful in getting registered and started up.
i had 1-1 a reiki session with Nadine and it exceeded expectations. parking for the wellness centre on nearby streets was easy, it's easy to find and the therapy rooms are beautiful. i couldn't recommend it enough and will 100% be returning!
Well kept, warm and welcoming rooms. Hot and soft drinks available. It makes therapy sessions a little easier
Super lovely people and place! Lovely rooms, lovely vibe. Great place to have a massage and so well located. Lots of thought and care has gone into making this place as special as it is. Highly recommend. Had a hot stones massage with Fi today. I’ve been floating ever since. Highly recommend. Great way to treat to aching shoulders and neck. I feel renewed x
I had a Reiki session with Nadine, it was so good and Nadine was excellent she took time to explain everything and made me feel comfortable. Good communication and really helpful. So happy with the session I booked straight in for my next.
Booked in for a regression hypnotherapy session with Helen and the experience was absolutely amazing, highly recommended . Helen was like a breath of fresh air , just what I needed, thanks
I had a pregnancy massage with Fi and it was amazing! the centre is a very relaxing place and she had it warm and comfortable for me. Despite her wearing PPE, the gloves didn't affect the feel of the massage and wearing masks made me feel safe. The actual massage was so relaxing and relieved any tension I felt as Fi had asked me where any tension was. I would highly recommend her to any pregnant ladies!
As a complete beginner and not being quite as agile as I'd like I was a bit nervous about attending a Yoga class but while I may be slightly biased given Elisha of Grow Yoga is my daughter I can honestly say I enjoyed every second of her class. She's a beautiful human with a passion and energy that radiates from her. She explains everything perfectly and encourages you to just go at your own pace and enjoy. On each occasion I've been I've left feeling like the world is a much brighter place with a calmness that is rare to feel in this very busy world. If you do have the chance to try one of her classes please take it, you'll fall in love with Grow Yoga
This is a wonderful oasis of calm and positivity tucked away inside a leafy courtyard on Abbeydale Road. The rooms are light, comfortable and tranquil. I always leave feeling brighter than I arrived.
A well laid out and welcoming place, conveniently located on a major route in to the city. Additionally, there is a small cafe for social meetups, before or after a session in the centre.
I have had the most wonderful hypnotherapy session with Fi from the Sheffield Wellness Centre. I knew from previous chats with her that she had the perfect voice and open demeanor for hypnotherapy, and I wasn't wrong. She immediately put me at ease and I was able to open up honestly with her. The session itself was lovely, I went quickly into a trance state and, although it's early days, feel very much that the session was beneficial: I already feel lighter and more in control of the anxiety and other problems I suffer with. The Sheffield Wellness Centre is also the perfect therapeutic space. The therapy rooms are lovely and perfectly suited to a range of therapies and the studio is bright and welcoming. I'm so excited to continue my therapy with Fi and am 100% sure this will give me so much benefit, I can't recommend her and the SWC enough.
This is an amazing space and i am very much looking forward to running regular yoga classes from here. It's a great location in Sheffield and as soon as i walked into the studio i knew i could work from here. Very clean and well maintained space and its obvious a lot of love and care has gone into setting it up.
Lovely venue, I had a Reiki session with Jess. It was my first session with her, she was very welcoming and explain the process in detail. The treatment was wonderful, I felt relax and a sense of joy during the session.I highly recommend Jess and the place to anyone that wants to try Reiki for the first time as she is a very gentle and calm person.
Lovely place! Coasy, beautiful, newly decorated rooms. Easily accesible from Sheffield city centra and Pick District. A lot of qualified therapists with experiences in various disciplines. Highly recommended!
I couldn't recommend Natalia enough! I have been treated by her and her essences for over a year now and we have gone through different levels of healing processes that I needed to go through. The powerful drops prepared for you at the end of the session gives you the extra help that you need to face your challenges... Thank you ever so much Nah! For the healing reiki sessions, the essences treatments and all the generosity and knowledge you bring and mix from your long time experience as a therapist; which makes your sessions unique and rich in love, faith and hope!!!
The Wellness Centre has a wonderful Yoga studio, one of the best intimate smaller yoga spaces I have ever used. Absolutey wonderful!
I met with Richard today to view the treatments rooms and the studio. What a lovely, calming, welcoming and comfortable place, with a generous touch of character! Richard was incredibly helpful and welcoming. I left feeling very excited at the prospect of using the premises for my classes and client sessions.
Lovely peaceful premises, beautifully kept. Run by the most lovely, helpful and friendly people. A great place to come for any type of treatment or to hire the rooms. If only more places were run as well as this one! Fantastic!
What a wonderful space! We had a great time at baby yoga, Fi is wonderful. I will be back for more of the lovely things on offer!
Beautiful place. So many different things going on. Peaceful and excellent service.
I had a wonderful experience with Richard, He is very friendly, I found it really easy to talk to him. He has all the qualities of a Good Hypnotherapist. I would recommend all my friends to him. And trust me it was first time I met him and it was great.
An amazing place to give and receive treatments. Love the space and the people.

I know from experience that life can feel overwhelming, exhausting and, at times, just impossible to navigate alone. Especially if you’re juggling challenges in lots of areas of life. Sometimes it can feel like you’re just trying to keep your head above water while the waves keep on coming.
For me, the thing that helped most when I was experiencing issues in life was therapy. Having dedicated time and space each week to unpack all the things I was trying to manage, and to talk about my feelings with someone who was just there for me, changed my life.
So whether you’re waking up in the middle of the night with a busy brain or constantly worrying about the next thing that’s going to fall in your lap (because that’s what life does, isn’t it!), I think therapy can help.
Having a safe, confidential space to share the thoughts and feelings you don’t feel confident sharing with family or friends can hopefully help you feel a little more grounded and a little more able to cope.
I understand that new things can feel scary, and having some idea of what might happen in sessions can reduce that worry. So here are a few things that usually happen in the first session and how subsequent sessions usually work.
During our first session together, I will usually ask you about your reasons for coming to therapy. There are no wrong answers to this question. You could tell me about something that happened to you when you were young, a big overarching issue that’s impacting every area of your life, little things that are piling up, or simply that you don’t know where to start because it’s all just too much. Your reasons are unique to you, and I want to hear them all.
In our first session, I might also ask you about previous experiences you’ve had of therapy. You might be able to tell me that you had fantastic support in the past and you’ve come back for more. Or that you had some therapy once, but it didn’t help and you’re not sure why. Again, there are no wrong answers here.
At the beginning of each subsequent session, I usually like to use the first few minutes to ask you how you’re feeling that day. You might give me a quick reflection on how your week has been before deciding what you want to discuss. Or this might be a chance to share some context for what you want to talk about. This gives you an opportunity to ground yourself in the therapy space and decide, based on how you’re feeling in the moment, how you want to proceed.
At the end of each session, I will also offer you a few minutes of reflective space to check in with how you’re feeling before you leave. This gives you an opportunity to potentially recalibrate your emotions before going back to “real life”, or maybe talk about anything you need to do in terms of self-care.
I always like to end the session with us both taking one long, deep, slow, calming breath before heading back out into the busy world… But I’m a bit of a hippy, so if this ending isn’t your cup of tea, all you have to do is say, “Nah, not for me,” and we’ll find another way to mark the transition out of the room. I’m open to any and all suggestions :)
My aim is always to help you feel safe in the therapy space, and safety is going to look different for every single person I work with. I am always mindful of how you are experiencing the structure of our sessions, as sometimes feelings can shift or routines stop feeling good. When that happens, I want to know!
If you have felt a connection to anything I’ve mentioned about myself or the way I work, and think we might work well together, I warmly invite you to get in touch for a free initial discussion.
For me, finding connection is everything. As the world around us seems to be moving further away from real, honest, human connection, I want to be an anchor for anyone who needs the time and space to sit, talk and feel heard.
