What is food intolerance testing?

Food intolerance testing is a diagnostic process designed to identify specific foods that may be causing adverse reactions in your body. Unlike food allergies, which involve an immediate immune response, food intolerances are related to difficulties in digesting certain foods. This can lead to a range of symptoms such as bloating, gas, diarrhoea, constipation, and stomach pain. Additionally, food intolerances can trigger less obvious issues like skin problems, headaches, and fatigue.

By pinpointing the foods that cause these symptoms, food intolerance testing can provide valuable insights into your body’s unique needs. This process allows you to eliminate trigger foods from your diet, potentially alleviating discomfort and enhancing your overall quality of life. Moreover, it supports the creation of a personalised meal plan that meets your nutritional requirements while avoiding problematic foods.

Food intolerance testing offers a proactive approach to managing your diet and can lead to the gradual reintroduction of foods you once had to avoid. Understanding and addressing these intolerances helps in optimising gut health and digestive function, paving the way for a more balanced and enjoyable diet.

Hello, The World at present doesn't have any standards anymore. So I don't expect anything from anyone. However in this case I spoke to a brilliant and diligent staff member called Sarah. She was incredibly pleasant and knew her job like the back of her hand. My inquiry was dealt with a standard which I would have set myself when I used to work. So very happy to have this very pleasant surprise. Keep up the Good Work. I honestly couldn't speak higher of the service. Thanks Steve

Deborah Chadbourn was an excellent grief counsellor for me. It is five years since my first wife died, and we explored how I am feeling now, and how to navigate new and old relationships while remaining true to everything from the past. Deborah is a great listener, and provides good challenge and advice. The venue worked well for me, as did the evening appointments. Thank you!

Shabana is one of those rare people who truly listens and understands without judgement. Her support came at a time when life felt overwhelming, and she helped me slowly rebuild my confidence and sense of self. I always left each session feeling lighter, calmer, and more grounded, and the tools she shared continue to help me every day. She helped me piece myself back together and reminded me that healing doesn’t mean becoming someone new — it means rediscovering who you’ve always been. I feel like my old self again, only stronger and more at peace. I can’t thank her enough.

Our work group recently had a Wellness Day and we were able to book Jemma Rosenthal and Ranaa Farooq from the Sheffield Wellness Centre for an instructional workshop. I have since received excellent feedback from group members. Jemma and Ranaa provided a very lively and well-coordinated session. We were able to cover topics such as Visualisation in a systematic manner. All along, attendees were impressed with the passion and interest displayed by both presenters. As an audience, we were certainly captivated. I can wholeheartedly recommend Jemma and Ranaa for any future events.

Came to have my session with Jemma Rosenthal here. The restrooms are so clean. There are steps that one needs to be careful of once you get onto the first floor. Fabulous place other than that, just wish it had a lift. Regarding my session: Oh wow, where do I start?! Even before meeting Jemma, i've felt at ease as there is something with the way she talks, which is so calming and reassuring. My first session was exhaustive, but I loved it. I enjoyed the relaxing Reiki in the end. She tells me that I need to tell her when I am feeling tired of talking about my depressive past and that she can approach a different way of therapy. This feels so liberating because she is basically willing to tailor the session for YOUR needs. She is a wise lady. Though she is younger than me, she is very caring, intelligent and as I said a wise person. I am so happy that our paths crossed and she is helping me come out of my bad phase. I came home and was so relaxed (I was singing freely and my husband noticed a change in the way I sing it was excellent)... I've been happy and been chuckling which is so not like me but the sad phase is jutting out of my system. I've had other private sessions for depression but wanted someone to coach my life who understands anxiety and depression. I don't remember how I found her online but glad that I did!! -Sharvani ♡☆♡ She's truly a Gem... Jem✨

I had a pregnancy massage with Fi and it was amazing! the centre is a very relaxing place and she had it warm and comfortable for me. Despite her wearing PPE, the gloves didn't affect the feel of the massage and wearing masks made me feel safe. The actual massage was so relaxing and relieved any tension I felt as Fi had asked me where any tension was. I would highly recommend her to any pregnant ladies!

As a complete beginner and not being quite as agile as I'd like I was a bit nervous about attending a Yoga class but while I may be slightly biased given Elisha of Grow Yoga is my daughter I can honestly say I enjoyed every second of her class. She's a beautiful human with a passion and energy that radiates from her. She explains everything perfectly and encourages you to just go at your own pace and enjoy. On each occasion I've been I've left feeling like the world is a much brighter place with a calmness that is rare to feel in this very busy world. If you do have the chance to try one of her classes please take it, you'll fall in love with Grow Yoga

I have had the most wonderful hypnotherapy session with Fi from the Sheffield Wellness Centre. I knew from previous chats with her that she had the perfect voice and open demeanor for hypnotherapy, and I wasn't wrong. She immediately put me at ease and I was able to open up honestly with her. The session itself was lovely, I went quickly into a trance state and, although it's early days, feel very much that the session was beneficial: I already feel lighter and more in control of the anxiety and other problems I suffer with. The Sheffield Wellness Centre is also the perfect therapeutic space. The therapy rooms are lovely and perfectly suited to a range of therapies and the studio is bright and welcoming. I'm so excited to continue my therapy with Fi and am 100% sure this will give me so much benefit, I can't recommend her and the SWC enough.

Pamper Party What a great idea! A bit of ‘me time’, in the most wonderfully relaxing surroundings. The Wellness Centre has such a relaxed, homely feel to it - much nicer than my actual home, as it is clean, tidy and welcoming! The atmosphere immediately put me at ease, I absolutely loved having time to chill out, chat and eat cake. Fi is the perfect hostess, making sure that we all had everything we needed, with her wonderful warm and caring manner. It was great to be able to choose what particular treatment or massage I wanted on the day. I surprised myself by trying something new and going for the hot stones massage, and I’m so glad I did. It was amazing, so deep and yet so gentle. It was really nice to experience my massage while listening to everyone else chatting happily, too. I completely recommend this if you are looking for the perfect excuse to have some guilt free time to yourself.

What can food intolerance testing help with?

Food intolerance testing can assist you in identifying and addressing a variety of health issues related to dietary sensitivities. Specifically, it helps with symptoms such as bloating, gas, stomach pain, diarrhoea, constipation, headaches, fatigue, and skin issues. By pinpointing the foods that may be causing these symptoms, you can make informed dietary changes to alleviate discomfort and improve your overall wellbeing.

Additionally, food intolerance testing can support the management of chronic digestive conditions and other health issues. For example, it can be particularly beneficial for individuals dealing with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and related digestive disorders. The insights gained from testing can guide you in making dietary adjustments that help manage these conditions more effectively and enhance your quality of life.
Testing provides a straightforward way to understand your body’s responses to food. With professional support, you can interpret your results and create a personalised plan to reduce discomfort and support your well-being.

The benefits of food intolerance testing

Food intolerance testing provides valuable insights and support for managing your dietary sensitivities, leading to improved health and overall well-being.
Symptom relief

By identifying specific foods that trigger adverse reactions, testing helps to alleviate symptoms such as bloating, gas, stomach pain, and digestive issues. This targeted approach can lead to significant relief from discomfort and improved digestive health.

Understanding symptoms

Testing provides valuable insights into how certain foods affect your body, helping you to understand and manage symptoms like headaches, fatigue, and skin issues that may be linked to food intolerances.

Personalised dietary guidance

With clear information on which foods are causing problems, you can make informed dietary choices. This helps to avoid discomfort and optimise your nutrition, enhancing your overall quality of life.

For further advice and support relating to food intolerance testing you may find these links helpful.

Can food intolerance testing help me reintroduce foods into my diet?

Yes, food intolerance testing can be instrumental in reintroducing foods into your diet. By identifying the specific foods causing negative reactions, we can develop a personalised meal plan that addresses your nutritional needs while avoiding these trigger foods.

Once we’ve removed the problematic foods and supported your gut health to prevent further reactions, there’s a good chance that you might be able to reintroduce these foods back into your diet without issues. This process involves healing your body and addressing the root cause of your intolerance. The goal is to eventually enjoy your favourite foods again, while maintaining overall wellbeing.

Food intolerance testing provides valuable insights that help us manage and potentially overcome food sensitivities, enhancing your quality of life and dietary flexibility.

What does the food intolerance test involve?

The food intolerance test is a straightforward at-home procedure. You will use a finger prick blood test kit to collect a small sample, which you then send back directly to the lab. The kit includes easy-to-follow instructions. Results typically take a couple of weeks but may be available sooner.

The test identifies food intolerances by detecting IgG antibodies that may be produced when specific foods are consumed. These antibodies usually do not cause harm, but if your immune or digestive system is not functioning optimally, they can trigger a range of symptoms. Food intolerances often arise from delayed immune responses to foods, including those you regularly consume or crave.

Optimising gut health and digestive function is crucial for addressing food intolerances and maintaining overall wellbeing. For pricing and nutritional support, please choose a nutritionist and have a look at their food intolerance testing services.

What symptoms might indicate the need for food intolerance testing?
