My name is Sharmi, and I am a Psychologist and Integrative Practitioner with a specialism in Trauma and Attachment. I have worked in the helping profession within the area of mental health for around 15 years.
I offer Couple Therapy, Family Therapy, Group Therapy, Adult Therapy and Child Therapy – whereas the latter two will be delivered in form of Individual Therapy.
The foundation of my therapeutic work and philosophy is rooted in the field of Trauma and Attachment. ‘Working with Developmental Trauma/Complex PTSD, attachment issues, parenting difficulties, children, teenagers and families are areas I consider to be my specialism.
Thus, I offer a variety of attachment-based and trauma-informed approaches as one of my main specialities. What got me into this field of work was that there has always been a strong part of me that wanted to help people in need, especially those suffering from emotional pain. I knew from a young age that I wanted to pursue this route as a profession.
My favourite part of doing this is that it feels rewarding to help alleviate emotional suffering and to be able to guide someone to make a positive difference in their life.
There are a range of issues I have experience working with which I have listed in the section called ‘Services’, however my greatest experience in therapy consisting of specialist understanding and knowledge involve working with difficulties related to trauma and attachment.
Services I offer
I offer psychological services in the form of consultation services and therapy services. Consultation services are a preventative and proactive approach to getting some guidance and support. It is short-term (2 sessions) and is not meant to be psychotherapy in that it is truly just to receive some guidance and assessment about what might help the client’s situation.
Therapy involves more in-depth work and could take form as brief therapy (max 6 sessions) or as a long-term therapy. The various types of therapy I offer are:
- Individual Therapy (Adult Therapy or Child & Adolescent Therapy)
- Couple Therapy
- Family Therapy
- Group Therapy
- Specialist Trauma
- Attachment-Focused Family Therapy
